1. What is my home area?
Your home area is the geographical area that includes your rate plans minutes. The area you have as home is determined by the rate plan that you signed up for when you joined our service.

2. What is roaming?
When you are outside of the Cellcom service area you are roaming. This means you are using another wireless carrier's equipment. The map that was included in your rate plan brochure indicates your service area. Depending upon the plan you chose, this might cover a portion of a state or several states. When you are outside of your rate plan area, you will see the charge as roaming fees.

Choose your rate plan carefully! It is possible for you to roam in your home area. For example, in Madison, your phone would show that you are roaming, even if your home area is the entire state of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This is because Cellcom does not have any towers in that area; you are roaming on a different carrier’s tower. In that case, since your rate plan includes the entire state of Wisconsin, you wouldn't be charged by Cellcom for roaming: Cellcom would pay the roaming fees for that carrier.

3. Will I be charged if I leave my home area?
Depending upon the rate plan you picked when you signed up for service will determine what you are charged when you are not on the Cellcom network. In most cases, yes, there will be an additional charge.

4. I am going overseas next month. Will my phone work?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to use your phone overseas. However, we would suggest that you visit http://www.cellhire.com. This company has great programs for customers that are traveling overseas on vacation and wish to take a wireless phone.

5. My rate plan said my coverage includes the entire state of Wisconsin. Why is my roam indicator light on?
Your rate plan is correct; your roam indicator simply means that you are no longer on a Cellcom tower. Cellcom does not have its own service towers throughout whole state of Wisconsin: we pay to use another carrier's equipment in order to provide statewide coverage for our customers.

6. My rate plan said my coverage includes the entire state of Wisconsin. Why doesn't my voicemail work?
Some of your features will work differently depending on whether you are in your home area or not. Your voicemail may need to be accessed in a different way when you are not in range of a Cellcom tower. Try dialing your own number and interrupting your message by pressing the star (*) key, then follow the directions to hear your messages.
