    First Phone

I got this phone for my 12th birthday as my first phone. I had wanted a smartphone, but didn’t have the money to get one, but I didn’t want a flip-phone. I either had the choice of the Samsung Freeform 4 or the LG Converse AN272. I chose the Converse, and was glad I did. This phone has a capacitive touch screen, which makes it feel like you are using a smartphone, but just smaller. This phone has a nice slide QWERTY keyboard to type on, and the slide can wear out after a while, but if you use it like you are supposed to, and not like a maniac, then it should last you the 2 years you plan to keep it for. This phone also takes photos. The camera is basically a glorified flip-phone camera, but at least if you turn it around, you can see a mirror to take selfies. You can also record video, which was a step up from a flip phone, but it records it in .3g2 file, so you will probably want to convert it to .mp4 file format. You can also listen to music on this phone, and there is a 3.5 mm audio jack for you to use. You can also use the BREW web or app store to get apps and use the internet. This phone has a loud external speaker, so when it rings, you will hear it very well. I have dropped this phone many many times and everything is still functional so you really don’t need to scour the internet for a case. The only downside to this phone is that it will sometimes, but very rarely drop calls. Another thing that happens is you might hang up when you are talking because your cheek could hit the hang up button. Besides that and the camera, this phone is overall a good phone for someone wanting a phone that is smart, but not like a smartphone.

I agree with calls dropping. I loved this phone but calls constantly dropped. Was sent in for repairs and check but it continued. Find it strange I was told they never heard of this with this phone. To only find one comparable that worked.

havent had any problems with the texting part of the phone however the actual phone seems to drop calls. the phone was sent in for repair then after it happened again, they actually sent it back to LG. they replaced it and after about 1 month the same thing happened. not sure if i would recommend this phone or not. guess depends on what you will be using it for.

We had two accounts usinnrhis phone. First phones only last a yer before the touch creams stopped working due to a connection cable. Next set of phones (replacement/repurchase) - less than 4 months. One was the touch screen again the other a battery issue. This phone is certainly not for a frequent texter. I was told the cable wore & broke likely due to frequent sliding.

The phone wore out just after a year. the screen no longer works. Would have liked a higher quality phone that would last the 2 years it needs to.

Phone is bad. Loses calls, touch screen way 2 sensitive, hard to dial or get contacts due to sensitive touch screen. Save your money and get something else

I wrote an earlier review which gave the phone 5 stars. Chalk it up to excitement. I have had the limited data plan for several years. I need it so that I can view local radar. It has worked fine on my last two phones. Did not expect an issue with the new phone. Wrong. I noticed that anytime there was weather on the radar that I would get a message stating "Error - file to large". Thought it was problems with the network. I realize now it is a problem with the phone. So much for radar whiled volunteering as spotter for Natl Weather Service.

I have had the phone for just over a day and am happy I delayed the smart phone one more year. This is easy to lock and unlock but does not butt dial like my last LG phone with querty keys. Touch screen works fabulous. The querty keypad has a little bit smaller keys than my last LG. Listening to music I transferred from my mp3 player as I write. Easy to copy and paste in music directory. Features appear to be easy to navigate and user friendly. If I have a change of heart down the road I will post it.

At first I was hesitant on getting another LG touch screen phone after I had the old LG sypder a few years ago (that phone had a really bad touch screen!). I tried the LG Converse in the store and was shocked at how well the touch screen responded!! The big touch screen is nice when using the web browser and since the screen responds so well it almost seems like you are using a smart phone without the smart phone data price. I like how the keyboard has a row of numbers on top. I am very satisfied with this phone.
