Backup Your Device Content - Cellcom

With all the photos, videos, apps and other information we have on our phones today, it is important to backup your device to make sure the content significant to you never gets lost. Follow the below steps to backup your content:

iPhone Backup and Restore Information

Creating a backup through iTunes:

  1. Plug the iPhone into a computer. Open iTunes. In order to do a backup through iTunes, the latest version needs to be installed. To manually update iTunes, select Help in the file menu and scroll to Check for Updates.
  2. Once the phone is connected, select Backup to backup the device. You can also select Backup from the File Menu.
  3. If iCloud backup is enabled, the phone will not backup to iTunes. To verify that the backup finished successfully, open iTunes Preferences and select the Devices tab. The name of the device will appear along with the date and time the backup was created.

Creating a backup through iCloud:

To enable backups through iCloud, select Settings > iCloud > Backup then make sure iCloud Backup is toggled on. This will run on a daily basis as long as your device is:

  • Connected to the internet over Wi-Fi
  • Connected to a power source
  • Screen locked

Restore data from an iTunes backup:

  1. Connect the iPhone to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Open iTunes.
  3. If you have a new or erased iPhone, iTunes will prompt you to restore from backup.
  4. Otherwise, click on your iPhone under Devices in the left menu.
  5. Select Restore from Backup.
  6. Choose the backup you wish to sync and click the Restore.

Restore data from an iCloud backup:

  1. Make sure the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into the charger.
  2. Select the option Restore from iCloud Backup.
  3. Enter your iCloud account and password.
  4. Choose the recent backup you wish to restore to the iPhone.
  5. Enter any passwords required when prompted.

Android Backup and Restore Information

Google Photos – Photo Backup Solution

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and search for "Google Photos". Download the app.
  2. Open the app by going to the shortcut in the app drawer.
  3. The first time you open the application, you will need to go through a short setup. Make sure that the Backup and Sync is turned On (blue slider). The default is to upload the high quality (unlimited storage) and upload over Wi-Fi only. We suggest using those default settings, but if you wish to change the defaults, you can click "change settings" to see additional options. Tap Done.

Google Drive – Backup and Restore Information

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and search for "Google Drive". Download the app.
  2. Launch Google Drive on your Android device and make sure you're logged into your default Gmail account.
  3. Tap the menu in the upper left corner and select Settings.
  4. Select Backup & Reset.
  5. Now select Backup My Data and make sure it's turned on (blue slider).
  6. To automatically restore your device, go back to Backup & Reset and now tap on Automatic Restore. Make sure it's turned on (blue slider).
