Roaming

  • Global roaming is when a customer uses a Cellcom iPhone 4S or newer handset with the customer's own mobile number and a Vodafone SIM outside North America for voice, data or sms.

  • When you are outside of the home area, you are roaming. This means you are using another wireless carrier's tower and network. The map that was included in your rate plan brochure indicates your service area. Depending upon the plan you chose, this might cover a portion of a state, several states, or the US. When you are outside of your rate plan area, you will see the charge as roaming fees.

  • If you do not want to worry about roaming charges, you should consider our Advantage Plan. With this plan, nationwide long distance and roaming are included no matter where you are in the United States. For more information, please contact Customer Care at (800) 236-0055 or visit your local Cellcom retail or authorized agent location for assistance.

  • Your current Cellcom handset should work in Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands (voice, text and data). Rates are listed below:

    • Available on all Cellcom calling plans and devices (does not require additional data roaming package)
    • Voice Services: $1.25 per minute
    • Text Messaging: Standard domestic rates
    • CDMA Data: $1.50/MB

  • Yes, we suggest using our international roam solution (Vodafone SIM) when traveling to Canada. The rates for Canada are listed below:

    • Available on all Cellcom calling plans and devices (does not require additional data roaming package)
    • Voice Services: $1.25/minute
    • Text Messaging: Standard domestic rates
    • CDMA Data: $1.50/MB
    • International Roam Solution GSM/Vodafone SIM: $10/MB
