Cellcom's Green Gifts Powering Environmental Initiatives in Fox Cities
Cellcom, a pioneering wireless and broadband company, has once again underscored its commitment to sustainable environmental practices, selecting three Fox Cities nonprofits to participate in its annual Green Gifts program. This initiative uses funds from Cellcom's cell phone recycling program to invest in ecological projects, creating a cyclical system of sustainability.
This year, among 26 deserving organizations that shared the $23,000 from Cellcom's Green Gifts, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, and Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust were selected. The substantial financial boost from Cellcom will empower these nonprofits to deliver substantial impact on local environment conservation efforts.
Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, which cleverly intertwines nature with literacy through the Heckrodt Book Club, received a $500 Green Gift. These funds will be used to sustain the program in 2024, simultaneously promoting a love for literature and the outdoors.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust, an entity working tirelessly to permanently protect natural places and provide public nature preserves, will benefit from a $1,000 Green Gift to support the creation of biodiversity monitoring kits.
Cellcom, with service coverage that extends throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, has generated a commendable $604,206 for local charities over the past 20 years through its recycling program. This sustainable approach of recycling old cell phones into 'green' financial support reflects Cellcom's drive to foster an environment-conscious community.
Stay tuned for more updates on this promising initiative by Cellcom and witness how the power of technology and the spirit of giving can contribute to a greener future.
