Cellcom's Green Gifts: Investing in the Environment and Local Nonprofits

Each year, Cellcom, a leader in the cell phone industry, takes a stand for green living through its unique Green Gifts initiative. This year, seven deserving nonprofits in Green Bay have been chosen to benefit from this exceptional program, which recycles used cell phones into funding for environmental projects.

The list of this year’s notable recipients includes; the Lower Fox River Watershed Monitoring Program, the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve, New Leaf Foods, the Baird Creek Preservation Foundation, Green Bay Sail & Paddle, the Greater Green Bay YMCA’s Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya and the Green Bay Botanical Garden.

The Lower Fox River Watershed Monitoring Program is planning to use their $2,000 Green Gift to further support their seasonal monitoring projects, by investing in essential testing materials.

The Baird Creek Preservation Foundation received a $1,500 Green Gift which will bolster their continuing efforts to remove invasive species. The funds will also aid in restoring pollinator plants throughout the beautiful 500-acre Baird Creek Greenway.

Meanwhile, the Green Bay Botanical Garden intends to put their $1,000 Green Gift towards enhancing interpretative signage in their popular new Bell Children's Garden.

In their commitment to fostering inclusive nature enjoyment and wildlife education, Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve will add an audio component in the Sensory Woods area, courtesy of their $950 Green Gift.

Promoting local farming and cooking, New Leaf Foods will apply their $600 Green Gift to the Brown County Seed Library initiative.

The Green Bay YMCA intends to inject their $500 Green Gift into the Outdoor Environmental Education program at YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.

Finally, Green Bay Sail and Paddle will dedicate their $250 Green Gift to mentoring the next generation of sailors and environmentalists in the Narwhal Kids Club.

This year, a total of $23,000 in Green Gifts has been distributed among 26 admirable organizations by Cellcom. This funding is generated through Cellcom's cell phone recycling program, a successful initiative that has raised a staggering $604,206 for local charities over the past two decades.

Cellcom's Green Gifts program continues to exhibit a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and local communities, demonstrating the exceptional value of repurposing and recycling for a greener future.
