The Manitowoc County Soil and Water Conservation Department will utilize their Green Gift to launch a mobile environmental education learning lab. With Cellcom's support, their mission to protect and conserve water and soil resources will be propelled further.
Investing in Green Initiatives: Cellcom's Annual Green Gifts Benefit Manitowoc County Projects
Cellcom, a leading regional wireless and broadband company, has once again demonstrated our commitment to sustainable initiatives and community partnership through our annual Green Gifts program. Three Manitowoc County projects have been selected this year to receive a portion of the funds.
The Green Gifts program, a cornerstone of Cellcom's dedication to environmental responsibility, uses funds generated from its cell phone recycling program. This program encourages customers and community members to help contribute by bringing old or unwanted phones to be reused and recycled. Over the past two decades, this initiative has generated $604,206 for local charities, transforming electronic waste into community investment.
This year, the Manitowoc County Soil & Water Conservation Department, Manitowoc County Historical Society and the Woodland Dunes Nature Center & Preserve are the proud recipients of the $500 Green Gifts, gaining support for their proactive green initiatives.
Meanwhile, Woodland Dunes Nature Center has plans to enhance educational opportunities along the Conifer Trail with its Green Gift. This fund will help visitors deepen their understanding of nature and its vital relationship with human beings.
At the same time, the Manitowoc County Historical Society will use its Green Gift in an effort to preserve the natural beauty of the land. The funds will be used to acquire new White Pines, instrumental in maintaining the health and vitality of the land.
In total, 26 organizations received a share of $23,000 in Green Gifts from Cellcom this year.
