Cellcom Bolsters Local Sustainability Efforts with Green Gifts Program
Cellcom, a leader in wireless and broadband solutions, recently unveiled its yearly Green Gifts initiative. The program channels funds from recycled mobile devices toward environmental projects. This year, the Portage County Boys & Girls Club and the Boston School Forest, two nonprofits in Stevens Point, are the chosen beneficiaries.
The Boston School Forest has been a pillar in the community of Stevens Point since 1937, offering educational opportunities. Their recent accomplishment, the Emery Babcock Outdoor Classroom, extends their educational offerings to other schools, districts, homeschool learners, and local groups. Cellcom's Green Gift of $550 will be channeled towards securing educational materials for the outdoor classroom.
This year, Cellcom's Green Gifts Program distributed a total of $23,000 among 26 organizations. The funds are generated from Cellcom's mobile phone recycling program, which supports eco-friendly nonprofit initiatives. Customers and community members can support the program by donating their old or unwanted phones for recycling. The funds from the recycled phones are then used to support environmental causes through the Green Gifts Program.
Mick O'Malley, Cellcom's Sustainability Director, reiterates the company's commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting local green causes. The recipients of the Green Gift are acknowledged for their efforts in conserving natural areas, offering educational programs, and promoting sustainability and research. Cellcom takes pride in backing organizations, big or small, that have a positive effect on the community and are working towards a greener future. Over the past two decades, Cellcom's recycling program has amassed an impressive $604,206 for local charities.
Cellcom's Green Gifts initiative underscores their commitment to both environmental sustainability and community support. By investing in organizations like the Boston School Forest and the Portage County Boys & Girls Club, Cellcom is paving the way for a greener tomorrow. Through their mobile recycling program, customers and community members are invited to take an active part in this noteworthy initiative.
